The Best Way to Do Your Shots!

OK LISTEN UP!!!- this has nothing to do with me per say...but I have been reading all sorts of blogs for so long and there is one thing that I just don't understand!!! WHY does everyone insist on doing their shots in their stomach where it hurts??????? I have left numerous comments on blogs trying to help people but I still see all these blogs with people doing shots in their stomach.

For my first IVF if you followed me I had 17 eggs retrieved and the entire time I did ALL shots in my thighs...alternating every night and I did the HCG shot in my thigh too - hence why I never felt sick and never got bruises!

So I'm telling you all after 4 IUI's and so far 1 IVF - DO THE SHOTS IN THE THIGH!!!

TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Hehe...I was doing what I was told by my Dr. :) It will be a while before I have to do shots again, but I will definitely keep that in mind for next time!!

  3. Hi! you know...actually for me injecting in the thighs hurts more! My trick is to inject very slowlely in the belly and to avoid bruises you have to avoid twisting or pressing too hard on the needle! But I'll try again next time and see if I can improve! Love, Fran

  4. Like Fran, my thigh hurt more than my belly. I guess everyone's different. I got bruises on my thigh, but only had a couple in my belly. Weird, huh?

  6. Hope you are doing well!!

    I saw 3 RE's over the course of our journey and found that all are different in what they prefer - one okay with mixing gonal-f and menopur and one not, two okay with injects in the thighs and one not.

    I've done both places and bruised just as much on the thighs as the belly. I hope your days of injections are over. (-;

  7. I will try that method the next time we try to get pregnant. I actually didn't bruise with my stomach injections. I also had a considerable amount of stomach fat to absorb the needles. But what really hurt me for weeks after I stopped injections were the shots in the butt. I still remember that pain and it's more than 2 years later.

  8. Hey! I borrowed my doppler from a friend.
    I just google picture searched it, and it's this one-

    You can find it at

    I found the heart beat myself at like 11 weeks (I think?) after I watched my Dr do it at an appointment. I couldn't find it before then. The only thing I DON'T like is that it takes awhile to read the heartbeat on the screen and then get to the heartbeat. It starts at like 120 and then moves up slowly. At first it was fine, but now he moves a lot, so I don't get a reading, but it sounds fine!!! As long as I find it and know it's there, I'm alright.
    I hope you get to use one very soon!!!!!!!!

  10. Thank you for the information. I think that I will give them a call back and ask if there is any way that they can see me before 4 weeks so that we can check on the baby. This nagging worry is horrible and I do not like not knowing what is going on. So, thank you. I will definitely take your advice and give my nurse a call.
