I NEED advice & help

Ok so one more month from now and If Im not pregnant I have to go back to my fertility specialist. I decided to just take the summer off as you might recall but it sort of stretched until Jan. I was just loving how great I was feeling with out all the shots & early morning appointments. But its still not working. My period is soo good now that acupuncture and my herbs have gotten everything in line but its still not clicking for some reason.

So here is my dilema.....

Of all the tests Ive had they all show that I am fine. The only test that I have not had is the Laprascopy. My specialist thinks that I should have it and I have been refusing up until now. I have never had any Endo symptoms so I dont understnad why I have to have it? I DONT want to have it. I am FREAKED out beyond belief about not only going under but also having an incision in my belly button and all the other crap that goes with it.

Is it something that I should do to rule the last test out? What if it says there is nothing wrong adn Im still not getting pregnant? Should I go back to Dr.Hughes in January and do one more IUI coupled with the acupuncture and then if that one doesnt work have the laproscopy???

PLEASE HELP!!!!

  1. I'm in the same boat. I've spoken to my RE about getting a lap, and please note I have a top RE in the nation and she is puzzled to wonder why I would even want one. I have ZERO endo symptoms like you, I don't even get bad menstrual cramps, i.e. I can go a whole cycle with normal flow and no cramps (sorry if tmi). She thinks I should do IUI then move up to IVF.
I am, just like you, FRIGHTENED about getting a lap, more because I don't think they'll find anything and I'll waste alot of time. I would rather go through an IVF first... as emotionally draining that is...
But if you have any symptoms of endo or etc, then you should consider the lap...
From reading your blog I'm puzzled why she thinks you need a lap....

  2. I'm sort of in the same boat. My old RE told me I "could" get a lap but he didn't think I had endo (what does he have? xray vision?!). my new re told me to wait on the lap and try injectibles first. he seems to think a combo cycle will work for us because he has seen good results with it. Whatever, I've heard this before. I think that a lap is a good idea if you have symptoms of endo. I think it's a good idea if your insurnce covers it. I think its a good idea if you have tried IUI and injectibles and they didn't work. I may or may not get one before I begin IVF. I haven't decided myself.
    Good luck.

  4. I know i can just tel you this in erson but i thought this wold be nice for a change, although the other comments will be more helpful, mine comes from another perspective. I am not in the same boat...but what i think is that if youy are that freaked about getting it done then dont, not yet anyway. I think when the timing is right is when you should do that and if the timing is never right then other thingd can and will happen!! lov ya

  5. I don't know whether you should get one or not. But I just thought I'd post my experience with it. Maybe it will help? I just had a lap last Friday and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It is surgery though. I didn't have any endo symptoms. My HSG showed a blocked right tube. It turned out to be endo and I am so glad that I had it done. I am hopeful about the results. I'm sure whatever you choose will be the right thing for you. Lots of luck.

  6. Hi Melis-
My advice to you is to do the lap.. These are trained professionals and you will be in the best care.

Imagine you were in labor and things weren't progressing well and the doctor said we need to do an emergency c-section. Without a doubt you would do it, and that leaves a bigger scar. This can be like the same thing. If they find something - ok, that answers that question. If they don't, then good b/c no endo, but then you can move on to your next move. Otherwise you'll just keep wondering whether or not you have it.

Good luck. I know this isn't easy for you.
    xoxo
    Love, Karen
